PreS-Gr 2–The Berenstains gather around the Thanksgiving table and give thanks in this seasonal story. There are many things the Berenstains are thankful for, such as school, vacation, friends, and sports. The thing they all are most thankful for is time with family, whether it’s learning to fish with Gramps, enjoying time at home with Mama, or watching Papa tend to his pumpkin patch. Seasonal humor provides a few chuckles, but the story is centered on giving thanks and being grateful. Spreads alternate between family time around the food-laden table and memories evoked by discussing what the family, especially Brother and Sister, are thankful for. While not offering anything new, the story is in line with the message. VERDICT An additional purchase where Berenstain Bears stories are popular.–Rosemary Kiladitis
