Whether the books focus on the improvement of sneaker design, coding a robot’s actions, or how to bend a soccer kick, publishers are working hard to make the information personally relevant and attractive.
Focused on the United States government and its military, this season’s series introduces young readers to several famous executives of the past and present, provide report writers with necessary information and explores modern weaponry.
Current series about health and the human body address a range of age-appropriate topics including healthy lifestyle, historical contrasts among past and present pandemics and plagues, and emphasizing scientific breakthroughs due to advances in technology.
While hi-lo (high-interest, low readability) books are aimed at an older audience, they support literacy by providing engaging, age-appropriate titles to striving readers. These new and forthcoming series provide a variety of approachable and engaging texts.
From the ancient realms of China and Egypt through the birth of modern technology, a variety of approaches bring history to life this season. Graphic novel format, video links, and tomb raider avatars are a few of the methods used to engage readers.
The majority of this season’s animal titles include several straightforward overviews, ranging from puppies and bugs to big cats and dinosaurs. A great activity book series will not only satisfy the maker urge, but will incorporate practice with additional skills as well. Problem-solving, critical thinking, creative decision-making, numeracy skills, and more can be part and parcel of any project or activity.
