Gr 2–5—Robots are always a high-interest subject, and this series covers their uses in medical, domestic, and other areas. Cover photos and interior images show robots of assorted designs performing their programmed tasks. Children are shown using educational robots, and women and men are shown working with robots on the job. The text is a bit dense for younger elementary schoolers, but the books could be read aloud in class. Older pupils could read these titles independently. Current uses for robots are covered, as well as research and developments for the future. Each book has a hands-on activity that can be completed with basic supplies—no electronics needed.
VERDICT A welcome addition to collections. Useful for lessons on engineering and technology or as pleasure reading about an evergreen topic.
