PreS-Gr 2–The story of Noah is told in this beautifully illustrated book. A wide array of animals happily surround Noah setting the scene on the front endpapers with the text from Genesis 6:18–19. The book opens with Noah receiving a command from God to build a boat to withstand a great flood. He is promised that in return for his obedience, his family will be kept safe. With the turn of each page, readers are taken through subsequent parts of the story, including the building of the boat, the gathering of the animals, and their time during the flood. The same scene is depicted in the back endpapers as in the front; but a different verse, Genesis 9:13, wraps up the story. The singsong rhymes help guide readers through the narrative. Computer-aided graphics in bright colors add dimension to the text and draw children in.
VERDICT This beautiful book is easy to enjoy making it a solid purchase for picture book collections, secular or otherwise.
