PreS-Gr 2–An introspective story about the profound impact that love has on individuals in every stage of life. Readers follow Anna’s life and see how love is present through it all: birth, growing up, friendships, partnership, the end of life, and beyond. It comes in different forms: unconditional, shared, loyal, happy, deep, inspirational, protective, committed, sincere, intense, patient, inexhaustible, and true. It stays with her through difficult times and happy moments, guiding her on the path through life’s journey. Baltasar’s illustrations are consistent with the text and add more details, featuring textured, realistic depictions of people, animals, and flowers. The vibrant range of colors ­contrasts with gray scale background elements for depth. The protagonist, Anna, with red hair and green eyes, is depicted in realistic scenes with family, friends, and loved ones to emphasize the all-encompassing emotion. Baltasar includes typical symbols of love from the natural world (hummingbirds, flowers, and butterflies) to emphasize how love and other emotions are a natural part of life.
