Since 2006, San Francisco publisher
Zest Books
has been publishing nonfiction books for teens and young adults. They’re now launching
Pulp, an imprint for “new adults,” with the byline "Juicy. Messy. Truthy. Books." Keeping to the Zest Books formula, the new imprint will publish

contemporary and narrative nonfiction books, specializing in memoirs, graphic novels, and art and humor books, but for an older audience. The first book to publish under the Pulp imprint will be a work of Victorian
-era history,
Alice + Freda Forever: A Murder in Memphis, written by
The Toast’s history blogger Alexis Coe, with illustrations by Sally Klann. Zest Books expects to publish three more Pulp titles in Spring and Fall of 2015, with the imprint taking up about a third of all planned acquisitions for Zest Books going forward. Librarians and educators looking for something to spike interest in the classics can look forward to Pulp's forthcoming release of
Plotted: A Literary Atlas, by Philadelphia-based artist Andrew DeGraff. DeGraff has made a name for himself through his movie maps, and now he's taking on the illustration of t
he journeys and geographies of literary staples including
Hamlet, Rebecca, and
Watership Down.
