The American Library Association’s Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), has announced the 10 recipients of its 2013 Teen Read Week Grants. Funded by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, the grants of $1,000 each will be used by the libraries to fund their Teen Read Week programs and activities. The recipients of the grant are as follows: Dawn Abron, Zion-Benton (IL) Public Library Catherine Andronik, Brien McMahon High School Library, Norwalk, CT Amy Jones, Ashe County (NC) Public Library Jennifer Shureman, Gloucester County (NJ) Library System Staci Terrell, Anderson (IN) Public Library Lindsey Tomsu, La Vista (NE) Public Library Patricia VanArsdale, Hussey-Mayfield (IN) Memorial Public Library Deena Viviani, Central Library Of Monroe County, NY Molly Weeta, Lawrence (KS) Public Library Bridget Wilson, Moss Memorial Library of Nantahala (NC) Regional Library System This is the third year that YALSA has been able to offer this grant, courtesy of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Teen Read Week is a crucial time to promote reading to teens; this year’s event being celebrated October 13–19 with the theme “Seek the Unknown @ your library.” We are currently offering this content for free.
