The New York Times Bestseller lists – to my eyes, they never cease to make for an interesting read. Let’s take a look at the titles at the top of the picture book and middle grade lists this week, shall we? Click the links below to see the rest of the top 10s.
Picture Books

Pete the Cat is pretty comfortable at the top of the picture book list these days, often appearing more than once. Pete’s latest takes the top spot this week, although The Day the Crayons Quit is knocking at the door. Llama “We Don’t Rhyme the Titles Anymore” Llama is back with a new offering. Also notable is the debut of Journey by Aaron Becker later on in the list (at #8).
Chapter Books

Wonder retains the top spot again. I can almost see the droves of teachers running out to get that for a beginning the year read aloud. Actor Chris Colfer (Glee) takes the second position with the continuation of his Land of Stories fantasy series. And how about A Long Walk to Water? It moved up to #3 this week. That book wins the award for “Sneakiest Bestseller”.
