You see that? That’s a soft pretzel rotisserie. That was in my teacher lounge the other day. The appearance of this soft pretzel rotisserie tells me the end of the school year is coming.

As we approacheth the end of the year, I like to take a look back at the books that really moved in my K-4 school library. These are the books that my students couldn’t get enough of during the 2013-14 school year.

I feel like this graphic novel is still flying under the radar of the masses. Don’t let it happen to you!

Place your bets! Place your bets! How many Wimpy Kid books will there be? I remember hearing Jeff Kinney say in an interview a couple years back that five was the goal and seven was the dream. We are now officially on number eight, with nine coming in November (have you seen it yet). The latest Wimpy Kid makes a solid entry onto the list despite being released into the school year (November 7).

The Amulet series continues to pick up new fans in my school library – so you have to start at the beginning, right? The first book in the series remains one of the most popular. I reviewed this book way back in the golden days, and was kind of hard on it. It appears kids are having the last word.

Ah yes, Puzzle Guy. Puzzle Guy has been captivating audiences far and wide since gracing the cover of the 2013 Special Edition. Puzzle Guy moves books. Sort of like my Million Dollar Idea (total revenue to-date: $0.00) a couple years back about putting Nosferatu on any and every cover, the same would work with Puzzle Guy.

See – this is why I do this. This one surprised me a bit. I knew that it was getting checkouts, but I didn’t think it was getting enough to land at number six. Great to see.
