TOON Books, Francoise Mouly’s innovative hardcover comics imprint for early readers, will expand into the upper grades with TOON Graphics, a new line aimed at readers aged 8 and up. TOON Graphics will include both graphic novels (comics) and books that alternate illustrations and prose.
I talked to Mouly about the new line at Publishers Weekly, and they have a page up at their website as well.
TOON is kicking off the new line with three titles: Theseus and the Minotaur, by Yves Pommaux; Cast Away on the Letter A, by the French creator Fred (a favorite of Mouly’s when she was a child); and Hansel and Gretel, written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Lorenzo Mattotti. The Gaiman book will be published in two different editions, an oversized deluxe edition with a die-cut cover and a regular-format library edition.
