The Picks:
Betty And Veronica #1 – The Archie reboots continue as Betty and Veronica return for their own series. Betty and Veronica are the best of frenemies. They are usually fighting over Archie’s affections, but this time they have something else to argue over: Pops’ Chocklit Shoppe is being taken over by a huge coffee company, causing Betty and Veronica to go head-to-head over the issue. Can their friendship, and Riverdale in general, survive? The Archie reboots have been doing a good job of updating the Archie gang to 21st century sensibilities and have been just plain clever. This issue is worth it just for the introduction with Archie and Jughead—and Jughead’s dog!
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #5 – Boom Studios gives a peek into the past of Zack, the Black Power Ranger. Before Rita Repulsa approached Tommy to be the Green Ranger and fight for her against the other Power Rangers, she approached another Ranger-Zack! This one-shot features guest artists Thony Silas and Kyle Higgins, the team behind DC’s Batman Beyond 2.0. It’s a great look back at the Power Rangers before they are seen in the series.
