Over a decade ago art director David Saylor had a good idea – to create a comics-focused imprint called Graphix. The first Graphix book was Bone #1: Out from Boneville by Jeff Smith. A pretty good start. We talked to David about how he got into comics, the decision to start Graphix, and his role in publishing Sunny Side Up.

Take an exclusive peek at Sunny Side Up illustrator Matthew Holm’s sketchbook, with thumbnails of the first eight pages of Sunny Side Up:

Through the Graphix imprint, David Saylor has altered the landscape of comics for kids. But he didn’t fall in love with them in the United States. At the 5:20 mark, Saylor talks about discovering comics while living in India.
