Let’s fire up the old circulation stats machine to do a mid year check-in on the most popular fiction series in our K-4 school library . . .

I love that there’s some historical fiction on this list. Who says kids aren’t interested in history? When it’s this action-packed and engaging, kids will line up to read it.

Funny, man. Don’t doubt funny.

Laurie Keller visited our school a couple years back when the first book was coming out, driving demand for this book sky high. But the series has sustained that popularity as sequels have been released.

This is a fairly recent addition to our school library and it’s been a complete hit for the “do you have any books about mermaids?” crowd.

This series is like the tortoise of this list – slow and steady wins the race. Always checked out.

A classic. New books in the series and full-color updates have kept interest high.

This series keeps on rolling, gaining new fans every year.

Do you know about this series yet? It’s great for the 1st-2nd grade crowd, and has been building steam in our school library.

While you can usually find the first couple books in this series on the shelf, the most recent few are checked out and on hold nonstop. Keep ’em coming, Kinney.

Ho ho! MPO still doing her thing after all these years. Kids like this series, and teachers like recommending it – a perfect storm of sustained popularity.
