Thousands of votes from all over the world were cast to come up with the five best educational blogs in each of the following categories: individual, new, group, class, student, edtech/resource, teacher, administrator, and library at Edublogawards.com This community-fed project started in 2004 in response to the blocking of learner and teacher blog sites in educational institutions. The purpose of the Edublog Awards is to promote and demonstrate the educational value of this media. This year's awards also christened the “most influential post” and “best tweeter” of the year. The site has lists of all finalists and nominees. Check out the five winners in the library category, below.

1. JRE Library Blog: The slogan of this blog, penned for the Katy, TX Independent School District by library media specialist Katie Dolan, is “It’s a good day to read a great book.”
2. Dare Every Day: A Library Journal 2011 Mover & Shaker, Gwyneth A. Jones, is at the helm here, where she describes herself as a daring defender of books, libraries, and lifelong learning.
3. Bulldog Readers and Bobcats: “Kids who think they don’t like to read just haven’t found the right material for them. I say material because sometimes kids think they are only readers if they read books. Not so,” says blogger Julie Hembree as she "bridges books, lessons, and technology."
4. Falcon Library Blog: This contender shares all the innovations and news of Edna Mae Fielder Elementary School in Katy, TX, including their Bluebonnet book club and awards.
5. Cabra College Library Blog: Sharing the “best in reading, research, and information,” this blog serves students in grades 9–13 in Cumberland Park, Australia.
