I am thrilled to discover Loom, a free screencasting tool available as a handy Chrome extension.

Loom offers three recording options: screen and camera, screen only and camera only.  You may record your full desktop or just a tab using the familiar Cancel, Pause or Finish commands.

I love that you can drag the circular camera screen around as you record and that you can also change its size.  When you Finish a video, your video renders instantly and you get a publicly shareable URL. Videos save to your dashboard as a library of files and folders.

Create folders to organize your library and quickly access your most important videos by starring the folders they belong in.

The recently launched Version 2.0 allows you to trim sections of your videos and increases your recording time limit beyond 10 minutes.  You can also add emojis.

And that’s not all. Need to explain something quickly to a friend, student or colleague?  Launch a little on-the-fly recording directly from and send directly in an email.

Loom makes it so easy for students to record videos, perhaps quick reflections and for teachers to record instruction, quick directions and feedback.
