Launched in January by a French company, the multilingual meta-search, reaches into news, web, video, image and social content sources and allows (optionally) logged-in users to add and share bookmarks, respond to social posts directly from the interface, and maintain topic-specific notebooks.

The attractive interface is likely to be useful for student searchers, even without a login commitment.

The default Classic one-page, column arrangement aggregates results across the Web, News, Qnowledge Graph (Wikipedia snippets), Social (realtime), and Shopping.  A series image and media results runs horizontally along the top of the page as a slideshow.  Each of the columns allows searchers to refine results. Alternate layouts allow searchers to display color-coded results as a mosaic, or to choose a tab to isolate Media or People results.

Note for teachers of ESL and world languages: Qwant searches in fifteen languages and shares that it can focus on the websites of thirty countries and geographical areas.
