Are you ready to be scared? Because I don’t know about you but I find this new adaptation of Peter Rabbit for the screen to be absolutely terrifying.
What’s rather remarkable is how they managed to avoid poop jokes. Normally awfully trailers are just rife with them. Now there is a distinct possibility that if this wasn’t Peter Rabbit it would be okay. Take that blue jacket off of him and all is well. I mean, the deer joke (for someone who lives in a part of the country where they’re fairly common) is spot on. But . . I mean . . . ugh.
Moving on, happier horror news. When Twilight was at its peak I could not, for the life of me, figure out why they didn’t republish Margaret Mahy’s The Changeover with a new beautiful jacket. Or, at the very least, film it. Knowing how slow the movie industry moves sometimes, maybe they were working on this all the time. Of course, shouldn’t Sorry have white hair? Ah well.
Now this one’s straight up horror and NSFW really. If you take the IT trailer and combine it with The Cat in the Hat . . . you pretty much just end up with the IT trailer, honestly. But the image of the Cat’s machine at the end works pretty perfectly. NOT for kids, this one.
Okay. I have officially freaked myself out. We need to counter this with something nice.
Lemme see . . . something nice . . . something nice . . . aha! Harry Potter on Broadway is nice, don’t you think?
You know what else is nice? The new trailer for Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick. That’s nice.
Meanwhile a children’s librarian, Horn Book, and even Phil Nel’s book hit national news this week. It’s been quite the week.
Okay. Off-topic video to send us off on a high note. I am such a child, but this makes me giggle. Every. Single. Time.
