From MLive.com/Grand Rapids Press:
Grand Rapids schools officials are hoping to create active readers with the 100 e-Readers provided by the Grand Rapids Public Library to better engage students through innovative technology.
“The public library has just rolled out the red carpet on the Nooks,” Superintendent Teresa Weatherall Neal said. “The community has really stepped up to help these children.”

“The library is really exploring what resources we can bring to table that would be beneficial to the schools,” said library director Marcia Warner. She said she wants to engage students on a higher level than merely conducting tours and signing kids up for library cards.

Jessica Liddell, GRPL’s youth services librarian, said she noticed the population of teenagers was low and contacted the district to see if they had a similar issue and began working with GRPS staff to try and “breathe new life into literacy.”
