Cavendish Square Publishing, a new educational publishing company founded by Roger Rosen, announced that it has acquired the assets of Marshall Cavendish Corp.’s entire North American library operation, including the Benchmark, Bookworm, MC Reference, and MC Digital lists. Marshall Cavendish library lists are composed of over 3,000 print and digital works developed for the K–12 school library and public library markets. According to the companies, Cavendish Square assumed operation of the purchased assets effective March 4, 2013; Cavendish Square also says it is committed to “a robust list” of new titles for fall 2013 in both print and digital form. Per the terms of the sale, Marshall Cavendish Corporation will continue to support customer access to e-book and digital reference materials purchased before the sale. Cavendish Square will assume marketing and access support for customers purchasing digital materials post acquisition. The editorial and production staffs of Cavendish Square will be located in Buffalo, New York. “I’m thrilled with this acquisition as I have long admired the Marshall Cavendish list for its depth and breadth of subjects covered and for the rigor and accessibility of their editorial approach,” Rosen says in the announcement. Marshall Cavendish’s future operations in the US will be focused on the expansion of its educational products in print and digital formats.
