I love seeing book creators try things readers might not expect. The guy behind picture book Along a Long Road and early reader graphic novel A Trip to the Bottom of the World has something a bit different in store. At 160 pages, Viva describes this as a middle grade novel.

I try my best to prep for author visits. I do. But after watching this clip of Kate DiCamillo at a school in Pittsburgh, I’m considering throwing in the towel. Waving the white flag. Live animals? This puts all other author visits to shame.
