The Pigeon Needs a Bath by Mo Willems. On shelves April 1, 2014

Good old Pigeon. He keeps on keepin’ on, appearing in a book every couple years and winning us over each time out. The latest makes perfect sense, pitting the ornery bird against the tub. And if this image is to be believed, it also appears to contain Pigeon’s first use of air quotes.

First of all, this card is great. Second of all, I want to know the name of the paper engineer The Whitehouse consulted – did they call in Robert Sabuda for this one?

CBS News recently did a piece on the growth in children’s and YA publishing, citing some of the recent heavyweights – Wonder, Wimpy Kid, and Dork Diaries, among others. Always interesting to see how the mainstream covers our little corner of the world.
