THE ART OF THE AWARD PLACEMENT

This week there have been a lot of librarians putting award stickers on books (visit the ALA store if you need some) I love a good medal placement post. I’ve talked about the topic in the past. Bottom Shelf books took it to the extreme last year. And yesterday Tales of an Elementary School Librarian shared some nice Newbery placement skills on Last Stop on Market Street and The Crossover. Dog Man (Dog Man #1) by Dav Pilkey. Out August 30, 2016.

Recently on Instagram I came across a Dav Pilkey Dog Man account. I wondered, “What’s up here?” Now I have my answer. A new series with a main character who is “[P]art dog, part man, and ALL COP!” I’m looking into my librarian crystal ball, and I see this being the most checked out book next school year.

What will win the 2017 Newbery? Heavy Medal recently shared some books to look out for – and you can add yours in their comments.
