The National Book Foundation has announced the Longlist for the 2020 National Book Award (NBA) for Young People’s Literature.

This year’s honorees, 10 in total, are comprised entirely of newcomers to the NBAs, states a release. Three are debut titles: Every Body Looking by Candice Iloh, Lifting as We Climb: Black Women’s Battle for the Ballot Box by Evette Dionne, and Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas.

The judges for Young People’s Literature are Joan Trygg (chair), Randy Ribay, Neal Shusterman, Ebony Elizabeth Thomas, and Colleen AF Venable.

Finalists in all five NBA categories will be announced October 6. The winners will be revealed live at the virtual National Book Awards Ceremony on November 18.
