Here’s some big news from Scholastic: Best-selling middle-grade author Tui Sutherland will be adapting her Wings of Fire series into graphic novels, with help from Secret Coders artist Mike Holmes. Sutherland is a graphic novel fan herself—and she enjoys reading them with her children—so when Scholastic asked if she would like to adapt her dragon stories, it was a no-brainer.

In case you missed it, IDW Publishing will be launching an all ages Star Wars series, to be titled Star Wars Adventures, in September. I talked to IDW president and COO Greg Goldstein about those comics as well as their other all ages titles, which include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and new Tangled and DuckTales comics.

In a Free Comic Book Day interview, writer Jay Lender and artist R. Sikoryak discuss Spongebob Comics and offer some recommendations for other great kids’ comics.
