Avatar North and SouthDark Horse has announced a new Avatar: The Last Airbender trilogy, Avatar: The Last Airbender: North and South, by Gene Luen Yang and Gurihiru—the team that have done the last few Avatar graphic novels. The first volume is due out in September 2016.

G. Willow Wilson has won the Second Annual Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity in Comics for her work on Ms. Marvel, and Heidi Macdonald has a video of Wilson accepting the award at The Beat.

The Smithsonian Adventures is a new series of educational graphic novels based on the different museums of the Smithsonian Institution. Co-author Steve Hockensmith talks about the first volume, The Wrong Wrights, which brings out some little-known facts about the history of flight—including the importance of the Wright Brothers’ sister, Katharine.
