Nathan Hale talks about the research he does for his Hazardous Tales graphic novels, which despite the humor are accurate retellings of incidents in American history.

They’re not your father’s Archie Comics any more, and Archie CEO Jon Goldwater talks about the changes he has made since he started with the company in 2010, including adding the openly gay character Kevin Keller, reviving the Red Circle superhero line, creating two new comics, Life With Archie and Afterlife With Archie, and, most recently, bringing in writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa as chief creative officer and former DC (and Archie) marketing director Alex Segura to run the Red Circle line.

Meanwhile, Archie president Mike Pellerito talks about the enduring popularity of the comics and how they appeal to kids in general and girls in particular.

Studios editor Shannon Watters moderated a panel on redefining “all ages” comics at Emerald City Comic Con; the panelists included Mike Kunkel (Herobear and the Kid), Colleen Coover and Paul Tobin (Adventure Time: The Flip Side, Bandette), Kate Leth (Kate or Die, Adventure Time: Seeing Red), Ryan North (Adventure Time, The Midas Flesh), and Mad Rupert (Regular Show: Skips).
