Disney comics are back! It’s been a few years since Disney ended their agreement with BOOM! Studios, which was publishing original comics and reprints featuring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and other Disney characters. Now IDW, which has a strong line of licensed comics (My Little Pony, PowerPuff Girls, Samurai Jack) has announced they will be releasing Disney comics on a monthly schedule as well as publishing collected editions, Micro Fun Packs (a bundle of comics with a toy, designed to be sold in toy departments of mass-market stores like Target) and deluxe Artists Editions. The monthly comics will be a mix of classic and new stories, and while the Uncle Scrooge, Donald Duck, and Mickey Mouse comics will be renumbered starting at #1, Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories will resume the current numbering scheme, making IDW’s first issue #723.
