You've been preparing all year for this moment: The announcement of the American Library Association (ALA) Youth Media Awards. Grab some coffee and join the fun by tuning into School Library Journals first-ever live pre-game show presented via Google Hangout at 7:30 EST on January 27, 2014. Elizabeth BirdLori EssHosted by Elizabeth Bird (l.), blogger, "A Fuse # 8 Production," and Lori Ess (r.), a former children's librarian now with Scholastic Reading Club, the event will stream live from SLJ's offices in New York City. Expect a no-holds-barred conversation about the most highly anticipated honors in children's publishing, including the prestigious Newbery and Caldecott awards. Stay tuned after the award announcements for a post-game wrap-up, and Bird and Ess will respond to your comments and questions via the live chat and on Twitter (#sljpregame). The 7:30 a.m. pre-game show will precede the award announcements, which will be streamed live at 8 a.m. from ALA’s Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia.
