On Saturday, April 27th, while attending the Texas Library Association’s Annual Conference in Fort Worth, I managed to slow Jarrett down long enough to ask him the exact same questions I ask every other kids comics creator I run across. Keep in mind, exhibit halls are crazy loud and crazy busy, so there is a lot of background noise. Let me know in the comments if you have trouble hearing anything and I’ll translate for you.

This has been an amazing year for Jarrett J. Krosoczka. He gave an inspirational TED talk in October (for which he had almost no time to prepare and yet managed to knock out of the park). The ninth volume of his Lunch Lady series came out in April. His first novel, Platypus Police Squad: The Frog Who Croaked, was released in May and a few weeks later NPR chose the Lunch Lady series to be part of its Backseat Book Club. He also files a regular interview series on Sirius XM Radio called The Book Report where he talks to children’s book authors and illustrators. All this adds up to me being very lucky Jarrett had time to talk with me at all!
