The movie, How To Train Your Dragon was a big hit for Dreamworks. I know my youngest daughter loved it so much that she would watch it over and over. And it’s hard to argue when the main character is a black dragon with big green eyes that acts just like an overgrown cat. The movie has spawned two TV series, Dragons: Riders of Berk and Dragons: Defenders of Berk; a sequel, How To Train Your Dragon 2, is set for release in June.

For those of us who have watched all the TV episodes and seen the movie over and over, and are just dying for new stories, Titan Comics is coming to the rescue with a new graphic novel series! This new series is set in the time of Dragons: Riders of Berk and follows the new adventures of Hiccup, Toothless, and the rest of their dragon riding friends. The first volume, Dragon Down, features Snotlout’s dragon Hookfang, who flies off and disappears. The gang set out to search for him, but Alvin the Treacherous is looking for him too. It’s a race to find Hookfang first.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been promised How To Train Your Dragon comics. Ape Entertainment announced they would be releasing an ongoing series back in 2012. Unfortunately, the series never came to light. But then, in flies Titan Comics, with not only a new series, but a treat for fans: The first volume isn’t set to release until the end of May to bookstores and retailers, but shops who get their comics from Diamond Distributors will have the first volume this week! So, if you just can’t wait for the new movie, stop by your local comic shop and see if they’ve got one on the shelves. They’d be crazy if they didn’t!
