If you’re anything like me, when ALA election time comes around you vote for people you feel would successfully carry out the duties of their post.

Often times these people end up being those you personally know and have confidence in. And then there are the situations when you aren’t familiar with any of the candidates and you try your best by reading bios and getting recommendations from others.

And hey! I have a recommendation!

In the case that you’re unfamiliar with any of the candidates for the Caldecott committee, allow me to wholeheartedly recommend Lynn Rutan. She has all kinds of experience (as a school librarian, blogger, and through previous service on the Printz, Newbery, and more) and is simply one of the most thoughtful and intelligent book people I know. If you know her you know this to be true. I hope you consider giving her your vote. The Caldecott committee would be lucky to have her.
