When I worked in the Donnell Central Children’s Room I got used to handling all kinds of interesting reference requests. One that I got frequently was parents looking for child-friendly versions of Don Quixote. The pickings were, to say the least, slim. There was Eric A. Kimmel’s Don Quixote and the Windmills and one other title aaaaaand . . . . that was it. Maybe Robot Zot by Scieszka and Shannon, if you want to go that far. Certainly nothing graphic novelish (paging Gareth Hinds) and certainly nothing about Cervantes himself.
It is therefore with the deepest possible pleasure that I present to you today’s cover reveal featuring Margarita Engle and Raul Colon. A natural pairing, to say the least. After all, he did the book jackets for her novels Tropical Secrets and Silver People. Now they’ve come together for a book filled with poems about Cervantes as he grew up and developed the idea for Don Quixote.
For your viewing pleasure, the cover and some inside spreads:
Many thanks to the folks at Peachtree Publishers for the reveal.
