NEWS RELEASE Capstone Launches PebbleGo Dinosaurs, Newest PreK-2 Database Module MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Aug. 5, 2015 – Capstone, a leading publisher of children’s books and digital products and services, announces the official launch of PebbleGo™ Dinosaurs, the latest module in the award-winning PebbleGo database collection which includes Animals, Biographies, Science and Social Studies. Covering content for grades PreK-2, PebbleGo Dinosaurs features articles for more than 125 dinosaurs, such as Ankylosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus rex, and Velociraptor, and the lesser known, Apatosaurus, Edmontosaurus, Gallimimus, Parasaurolophus, and Suchomimus which were spotlighted in the summer blockbuster Jurassic World. “Today is an exciting day for our customers who’ve been waiting for PebbleGo Dinosaurs. With recent discoveries uncovering that many dinosaurs had feathers, PebbleGo Dinosaurs offers schools the most cost-effective way to keep their dinosaur collection current. Learning all about dinosaurs is an exciting way to start the new school year,” said Matt Keller, Capstone Chief Marketing Officer. PebbleGo Dinosaurs groups dinosaurs in three broad categories – beaked, bird-like, and long necks – with several easy-to-navigate subcategories for young researchers, such as armored, bird-footed, horned, and meat-eating raptors. The database explores each dinosaur’s body, habitat, food, and behavior; compares the dinosaurs to modern day animals; and includes a range map showing geographic region. Based on the most recent scientific discoveries, updated illustrations feature dinosaurs with feathers. Accompanying activities, games, a question of the day, and teacher materials round out the learning opportunities. Capstone consulted with Mathew J. Wedel, a paleontologist and professor of anatomy at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California, on the project. Wedel's main area of study is the long-necked sauropod dinosaurs, giants like Apatosaurus and Brachiosaurus. All PebbleGo database modules include expertly-leveled text, fully narrated by professional voice-over artists to provide essential scaffolds for struggling readers and English language learners. PebbleGo employs a streamlined interface, animated highlighting, educational videos and games, and encompassing activities which teach students how to cite articles, create reports, and share what they’ve learned. The database is available over the Internet 24/7 as an annual subscription for enrolled students.
