Each year, to accompany the publication of School Library Journal's Best Books, the magazine has commissioned a top children's book illustrator to render our December cover. Here's a look back at those covers—all on the theme of "stars"—which began in 1998 with an illustration by Christopher Myers. We'll reveal our 2014 cover next week—it's a beauty.
