SLJ's Teen Read Week Pinterest board curated by librarian Molly Wetta.
Want to make a splash for YALSA's (Young Adult Library Services Association) Teen Read Week (TRW) from October 18–24? Look no further than School Library Journal's TRW Pinterest page, curated by blogger, librarian, and guest pinner Molly Wetta. There are so many avenues and directions that librarians can go with this year’s TRW theme, "Get Away @ the Library," and Wetta offers inspiration for a variety of display ideas, programming, and crafts. Wetta, the member manager at YALSA’s “The Hub,” and collection development librarian at the Lawrence (KS) Public Library, recently curated SLJ’s Banned Books Week Pinterest board. From a black light party and map string art to an “Out of this World” Doctor Who–themed book display and literary locale–inspired library signage, her latest picks make for an exciting and fun celebration of reading and book culture.
In addition to reviewing YA titles, Wetta blogs about YA book trends, feminism in teen literature, and how librarians can use social media to reach their students and patrons at “Wrapped Up in Books.” Wetta will continue to pin her resource picks to the board. If your library is doing fun, innovative programming and displays for TRW, please share them in the comments section below. We are currently offering this content for free.
