Renae De Liz’s cover for the new Wonder Woman comic
Back in March, Allison Baker wrote about her love of Wonder Woman and her chagrin that there was no Wonder Woman comic that her daughter could enjoy.
Well, DC has some good news: In August, they will launch Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman, a digital-first anthology of stand-alone stories that will not depend on the New 52 continuity. That will make them easier for newcomers to read, and while they won’t be quite suitable for Allison’s ten-year-old daughter, the comic is rated T for teens.
The first issue will be written by Gail Simone (Birds of Prey, Secret Six) and illustrated by Ethan Van Sciver (Green Lantern, Justice League), and the lineup for future issues includes Cecil Castellucci (The Plain Janes), Lauren Beukes (Fairest), James Tynion IV (who has done quite a bit of work on Batman books but also just launched a new YA series, The Woods, with BOOM! Studios), and Renae De Liz (Womanthology).
The digital comic will be released on a weekly schedule, beginning in August. The print comic, each of which will collect three of the weekly chapters, will also launch in August.
