YALSA 2015 Summer Reading and Teen Intern Grant Applications Now Open The applications for the 2015 Summer Reading Resources Grant and the 2015 Summer Reading Teen Intern Grant are now open for members of the Young Adult Library Services Association. A total of 20 grants, $1,000 for each grant type will be awarded, thanks to the support of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply by January 1, 2015. Gale's New "My Library Story" Campaign Advocates for Libraries Gale wants all library users—school, public, academic—to share their library story. For every story submitted that demonstrates the value and impact of today’s libraries (now through February 28, 2015), Gale will donate $1 toward advertising in mainstream media that will promote libraries during National Library Week in 2015. Foreign Language Scholarships Available from the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs Approximately 600 scholarships are available for the 2015-16 academic year for American high school students to study language through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program. NSLI-Y is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The program seeks to increase Americans’ capacity to engage with native speakers of critical languages by providing formal and informal language learning through a study abroad experience, which includes language classes and living in a local community abroad, often with a host family. To be eligible for 2015-16 program scholarships, applicants must be U.S. citizens (ages 15-18) and high school students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
