School Librarians: Ask Students to Vote to Get 'The Fault in Our Stars' Cast to Visit Your State

Here's a fun activity around the June 6 film release of The Fault in Our Stars. Librarians can encourage students to find their home state on an interactive map, and put in their vote to get the book-turned-film's cast to visit their state. Vote before April 25.
Faultinourstars_Odyssey Award To promote the June 6 film release of the #1 bestselling New York Times YA title The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (Dutton, 2012), the film's cast—Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Nat Wolff, and the book's author John Green—will be traveling the country, and school library book clubs and students can have a hand in getting the cast to visit their particular states. Here's how: Active voters in states like California and Illinois have already racked up 63,415 votes and 71,648 votes, respectively (as of 2:30 p.m. ET April 18). Other states—like Delaware at 603 votes and North Dakota at 307—clearly don't have as many active fans. The states that have the most votes by April 25 will receive a visit from The Fault in Our Stars tour.
