Rock On with 'The Scar Boys' | Egmont Giveaway

Egmont USA is giving five SLJTeen readers a chance to win a copy of debut YA author Len Vlahos’s humorous and heartbreaking coming-of-age novel set in the 1980s, The Scar Boys.
Harbinger (Harry) Jones gives an account of his life in the form of a college application essay in Len Vlahos’s humorous and heartbreaking coming-of-age novel set in the 1980s, The Scar Boys (Egmont USA, January 2014, ages 14 and up). Harry’s first defining moment happens at age eight; he is severely scarred when the neighborhood goons tie him to a tree that is hit by lightning. His second defining moment occurs when he is befriended by the charismatic, handsome Johnny and they form a punk rock band. The Scar BoysSchool Library Journal gave the book a star: “If Brent Runyon’s The Burn Journals and Stephen Chbosky’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower could be melded into a single work, it might be this one. Distinguished in every way.” Five lucky winners will receive a copy of The Scar Boys by Len Vlahos. To enter, send an email to ScarBoysGiveaway@gmail.com with your name, shipping address, and email address. Email entries must be received by midnight (PST) on January 31, 2014. Winners will be selected in a random drawing and notified via email. One entry per person, please; prizes will only be shipped to U.S. addresses.
