ALA to Discontinue LibLearnX Conference in 2026

The 2025 conference scheduled to be held in Phoenix will continue as planned, according to ALA's announcement, which said the organization was working toward the best way to continue to present certain events during that conference, including the Youth Media Awards.

The American Library Association Executive Committee has decided to discontinue LibLearnX: The Library Learning Experience (formerly the Midwinter Conference) in 2026. The event will go on as scheduled in Phoenix in January 2025.

The decision comes after "careful evaluation and analysis of financial and other critical factors," according to the press release, which noted that the organization is working toward a solution for key events during the conference, most notably the Youth Media Awards.
