Awards

The NCTE Excellence in Children’s Poetry Award Committee has recognized 21 exceptional books of poetry and nine novels in verse in their annual list. Read and evaluated by each member of the committee, these books published in 2021 are notable for their use of language, poetic devices, and their application to children ages three to 13.

Artist Faith Ringgold, authors and publishers Wade and Cheryl Hudson, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library are among those recognized by the annual awards.

The district librarian for Redmond (OR) School District is passionate about diverse collections and creating welcoming spaces for Latinx children.

Boyd, librarian at Jefferson Middle School Academy in Washington, DC, earned the annual honor for her innovative programming, advocacy, and dedication to her students and community. 

The annual awards selected a winner and honor title for each of the seven categories.
