PreS-Gr 3—Based on the recent animated Disney film, Wreck-It Ralph, this read-along set lives up to its name. Wreck-It Ralph is the villain in a video arcade game. After years of being put down by the other characters in the game, he decides that he doesn't want to be the bad guy anymore and leaves. He visits other games in the arcade and meets a girl named Vanellope in a racing game called Sugar Rush. He helps her build a car so that she can win the upcoming race. When the king of Sugar Rush tells Ralph that Vanellope is a glitch, Ralph wrecks her car to keep her from messing up the game. He feels awful and heads back to his own game, deciding that he must be a bad guy after all. That's when he discovers that Vanellope is not a glitch, and that the King of Sugar Rush is actually a glitch trying to take over the game. At the last minute, Ralph teams up with the hero from his game, Fix-It Felix, and they get Vanellope back in the race and save the day. The book's illustrations are basically screen shots from the film. The text gets a bit wordy on each page, which may be a challenge for beginning readers. Featuring the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch as well as great sound effects, young children will thoroughly enjoy the set.—Jenny Ventling, Greene County Public Library, OH
