PreS-Gr 3—Now based in Alberta, Canada, Parents' Choice Award-winner Lambert serves up "Worms & Dirt" among other ecological treats on her ninth album for kids. Of the 14 songs, nine are original. Highlights include a wetlands twist on the traditional "Down by the Bay" and the classic Leon Rene's "Rockin' Robin." Lambert's voice shines as she sings the country-flavored "Down at the Worm Farm" and the ballad "My Beautiful World." In contrast, she is full of energy and zing when belting out "Lola the Little Litter Bug" and "Go, Go Green." Lambert's voice is light and nimble, making this album fun and enjoyable, especially when she adds theatric flair, as she does in "Eh Canada" and "Turn it Off!" She hands the microphone over to young Logan Olsen for "My Little Hands," an empowering song that encourages children to get involved in conservation. Lyrics are filled with suggestions of solid ways that youngsters can be "green."—
