The guests are senior executives at the factory that his father owns and that John-Paul may one day take over if his father gets his wish. Numbingly bored before the first course even arrives, John-Paul is happy to help serve the meal. As per his dad's request, John-Paul goes to retrieve the salad for their guests, but he has a devious idea. Using the leftover bait worms from his fishing expedition, John-Paul adds a single worm to each dish. Ready for hilarity, John-Paul sits back and awaits each diner's reaction. The stylish, predominantly black-and-white cartoons, set against solid colored backgrounds, depict the family's classy apartment.
VERDICT Kids will savor this amusing serving of mischief.

This French import could be called How to Eat Raw Worms. At a dinner party thrown by his factory-owner father, mischievous John-Paul switches the fancy-appetizer shrimps for live worms, then gleefully watches how each guest (Dad's employees) reacts. The humorous text reflects the boy's barely contained giddiness. Subdued illustrations befit the formal affair while revealing the pleased-with-himself troublemaker's handiwork (and his mismatched socks).
