Gr 1–3—Each volume discusses characteristics of a specific ecosystem, including plant and animal life. The texts are easy to read but have minimal content. They don't flow well from spread to spread and may leave readers with a sense of having learned little. For example, Iceberg?? begins, "Winter blasts snow…," but then questions may arise as, two pages later, the book says, "Winter is so bitterly cold that little snow falls here." Students may be confused as the text describes certain animals of the ecosystem but it isn't always clear which animal is which; this gets cleared up in the "more information" fact pages in the back matter, which are very informative. The computer-generated artwork is attractive. Although appealing to the eye, these titles are not necessary purchases.—Stephanie Farnlacher, Trace Crossings Elementary School, Hoover, AL
