Gr 3–5—In plain language accompanied by appealing illustrations, this book covers Jesus's life, teachings, and miracles. Each spread constitutes a short chapter. Less lyrical but more densely factual than John Hendrix's
Miracle Man, this selection is suited to a slightly older audience. Its topical, rather than chronological, organization leads to a few head-scratching situations: Jesus's birth is included as additional information in the final chapter, and the first of his miracles, the wedding at Cana, is mentioned after a chapter about several healing miracles that occurred later in Jesus's ministry. Still, as long as readers are not looking for a time line of events, the material is sufficiently well organized.
VERDICT A solid addition for collections seeking more informational texts on Christianity.
