PreS-Gr 2—One alien endures a visit from another in this British import. Angus is hanging up his wash when a rocket crashes into the garden. Alvin pops out and immediately starts showing off his special space skills, such as flying and covering himself in feathers. Because his boisterous activities are wrecking the garden, Angus comes up with a plan to rid himself of this unwanted guest. He holds his breath and blows himself up like a balloon until he is so big, he can touch the clouds. Not to be outdone, Alvin blows himself up until he reaches the heavens and is punctured by the pointed tip of a star. He whooshes around the universe while he deflates, and he eventually ends up, in a much smaller form, back in Angus's yard. Angus agrees to help restore Alvin to his normal size if he promises to behave. Alvin proves himself a good helper and becomes himself again. Now friends, the two creatures enjoy some tea before Alvin blasts off for home. Bright, coloring book-type pictures rendered in pencil, acrylic, and digital media accompany the story. The large trim size allows for big illustrations to go along with Alvin's outlandish actions. Young readers may have fun looking at the bizarre flora and fauna that populate Angus's world. An additional purchase for libraries in need of books about child-friendly aliens.—
