Gr 2–5—An extension of Magnusson's Circlepoint Bullying Prevention Program, which enables administrators, teachers, support staff, parents, and students at all grade levels to prevent, reduce, and resolve bullying problems, this instructional book is designed for those who want to help a friend, a classmate, or themselves or who just want to learn more about the topic. Two kids, Max and Zoey, explain in detail what bullying is and how to cope with it—even though they say, curiously, that bullying is not common. Topics covered include bystander intervention, how to stop bullying, and adult helpers. Readers are invited to skip around to the sections that they are most interested in. The author aptly describes the difference between unintentional harmful behavior and all out bullying. Panels are visually engaging, and the subjects are diverse. There are useful strategies for combating bullies, and the most important takeaway is that bullying is a community problem.
VERDICT A solid option for those dealing with bullying
