The authors make clear that the dangerous qualities of each species are a result of instinct rather than malicious desires. Human encroachment on habitats is the top cause in each title for recorded attacks on humans. With an emphasis on avoidance and safe tips for what to do in an encounter, these titles will help children feel secure despite the scary topic. The photos are clear and exemplify the text. Each title employs the same simple but accurate definition of the word ecosystem, though considering the reading level, a more complex exploration does seem necessary.
VERDICT A good series to add if these creatures can be found in your area.
