Using the night sky as a paintbrush, the tiny infant fashions a myriad of animals and objects to keep him busy. In this bedtime romp, photographs of a real-life baby Vincent are juxtaposed into various scenes and landscapes—from a pirate ship to a circus tent. Enersen, well known from her blog "Mila's Daydreams," uses playful black-and-white digital line drawings for this soirée of a picture book.
VERDICT A surreal and adorable tribute to sleep fighters everywhere.

After writing two books featuring daughter Mila, Enersen presents one starring her second-born, who (she says) decides to shirk sleep one night. The unremarkable text sets up the clever illustrations: photographs of baby Vincent appearing to interact with black-and-white digital drawings (e.g., "He was being very naughty" shows smiling Vincent unraveling a cat's tail into yards of string).
